Crop Husbandry
Suubi – The Oduhoson Model Farm operates an integrated crop system that balances food crops and cash crops, ensuring both sustainability and profitability.
Coffee & Bananas:
We practice coffee-banana intercropping, with approximately 1 acre of coffee and 2 acres of bananas. This system ensures soil health and maximizes yield.
Vegetables
We grow tomatoes, cabbages, and collard greens (Sukuma wiki), which have significantly boosted our crop portfolio since May 2024.
Soursop
Though still a small project, our orchard of soursop trees has shown promise, and we hope to expand its footprint on the farm.
Avocados
We grow Hass avocados on over an acre, and the first crop is expected to bear fruit soon.
Soya Beans & Maize
These crops are grown together, with soybeans used in part for animal feed and maize for consumption by farm staff.
